A Rotary roundup of notable November events
During the month of November, the Daniel Island Rotary Club was very busy with service activities: they held a workday at Habitat for Humanity; provided towels to Meals on Wheels recipients; delivered 171 turkey meals for the Thanksgiving holiday; doanted to the Daniel Island School Do Gooders Club to help with their holiday project; painted the benches at Veterans Park near Volvo Car Stadium; and adopted over 40 local children to provide them a special Christmas.
In addition to service projects, here are some highlights from the group’s monthly meetings:
• Nov. 6: Brian Hicks, author and columnist for The Post and Courier, spoke at the Speaker Series in front of more than 400 people at the Daniel Island Club.
• Nov. 13: John Tiller spoke at the weekly breakfast meeting about Rotary’s Student Exchange Program. Ray Battocletti received his white badge.
• Nov. 20: College of Charleston President Andrew Hsu spoke at the weekly breakfast meeting about the future of the school.
