On Feb. 14, at 1 pm, guest speaker Rich Dorval will present “The Slave Experience in the South Carolina Lowcountry” at the Daniel Island Library. Popular interpretations of slavery were dominated by filmmakers, playwrights, and novelists in the early 20th century. Since the 1970s, our understanding of slavery has changed dramatically with a new complex and compelling picture of the slave experience emerging.
