BEHS JV girls' tennis team finishes season strong
The girls’ junior varsity tennis team at Bishop England had a terrific season with fun had by all. With 16 girls in all, the team played Wando, Ashley Hall, Academic Magnet, James Island, and Hanahan with competitive matches each time. The last match versus Wando had five third set tiebreakers, and seven tiebreakers total. Led by co-captains and “twins” Jackie Hanna and Mary Grace Tawes, these girls not only really improved, but created an atmosphere that combined athleticism with a feeling of family that is sometimes rare in today’s competitive world. That is often a hard combination to possess, and these athletes should be proud of all their hard work both in and out of the classroom.
Special thanks to the Daniel Island Club and our awesome assistant coach Lisa Gnann for all her help and patience, thanks to Varsity captain and Air Force Academy-bound Cameron Deames for her help in training the girls, and another big thank you to Snee Farm for allowing us to have our home matches at their facility.
