Football Pigskin Pick'Em - Week 1

Enter by 5 pm on Friday at www.surveymonkey.com/r/R2DNWZG

It’s football season! This year we kick off the 20-week Daniel Island News Pigskin Challenge with college and NFL games. High school games will be included next week as this week’s schedule was uncertain due to Hurricane Dorian.

The challenge is brought to you each week, with the chance for readers to win great area restaurant gift cards and other prizes, from our group of committed and competitive sponsors. You can enter the contest by entering the link in the headline to this article into your browser or by clicking on the link on our Facebook page. You can also sign up to receive the ballot via weekly email each Tuesday by contacting katherine@thedanielislandnews.com. Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday to be eligible (prior to start of high school games).

This year, one of last year’s sponsor champions, Rosie Stieby of Daniel Island Real Estate, will defend her title against these additional sponsors: Cara Schaafsma of Carolina One Real Estate, Colby Hollifield of Daniel Island Ferry, Ashley Severance and Michelle Walsh of Atlantic Properties, the staff at LTP, and Michael E. Patterson, Jr. and Chris Mingledorff of Mingledorff & Patterson, Attorneys at Law. Also competing in the contest is Daniel Island News sports writer Phil Bowman, who selects the games for the competition each week.

The winning sponsor receives a $500 donation from the paper to his or her charity of choice. Last year’s trio of winners directed donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Stieby), the Philip Simmons High School Marching Band Booster Club (Brad Rose of Palmetto Custom Carts) and to East Cooper Community Outreach (Ray Passailaigue of Backflow Service and Repair).

This week you have a chance to beat Cara Schaafsma of Carolina One Real Estate for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Vespa.
