Jason Dack beats the Brookes family, wins $50 gift certificate to Sermet's.

This week’s winner of the Pigskin Challenge is Jason Dack. Jason was one of only four people to beat the Brookes family’s 7-2 effort last week and one of only two entrants to pick all nine games correctly. The three high school games were postponed due to Hurricane Matthew. The other nine game winners did not leave his or her name.

Jason said he evacuated to a friend’s house in Summerville for the hurricane, “Bad move on our part, they lost power and our house never did.” But, it was a good move to enter the contest, “My wife always tells me I’m full of useless sports knowledge. Looks like that useless knowledge just got us dinner!”

An interesting fact about Jason: He always wanted to be a lumberjack for a day.

Each week from now until the Super Bowl, readers will be given the opportunity to “Beat the Sponsor” and to win great prizes. We will email a link to the survey each Monday via a Daniel Island News eblast and we will also put the URL link on our Facebook page and here in the paper. To be eligible to win, you must select your entries online by noon on Friday. There is no cost to enter. If you’d like to be added to our eblast, please send your email address to sdetar@thedanielislandnews.com.

To enter, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2PPT7XC and fill out your ballot.

Each week, we will also include a running win-loss record for each of our sponsors and the paper will donate $500 to the charity of choice of the sponsor who has the best overall win-loss record at the end of the season. In the sponsor competition, Drs. Jackson and Basha continue to hold on to first with a two-point lead. Rosie Stieby holds on to second place.

This week is your opportunity to beat Drs. Jackson and Basha for an opportunity to win a $50 American Express gift certificate.
