Jeff Caldwell wins Super Bowl Pick‘Em

Defeats Mingledorff & Patterson for $50 gift card to NY Butcher Shoppe

That’s a wrap! Jeff Caldwell won the final Pigskin Pick’em Football Contest, with a 7-5 score over Mingledorff and Patterson’s 3-9 Super Bowl picks. He will get a chance to shop at the New York Butcher Shoppe on Daniel Island with a $50 gift card.

An an avid player of the weekly contest, Jeff wrote via email, “Pigskin Pick’em is a great part of DIN in the way it also showcases our local business. Winning a second gift certificate to the Butcher Shoppe is wonderful, as it is one of our favorite stores on the island.”

Jeff and his wife moved here from the San Francisco Bay area, but were rooting for the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl. He had confidence in Kansas City despite being behind 10-20 going into the fourth quarter of the game. “They simply had to play the fourth quarter the way they were capable, as they had come from behind in every other postseason game,” Jeff said.

When asked about his favorite NFL team, Jeff wrote, “My favorite team used to be the Chargers, but that simply became too painful and perennially disappointing. Having now moved to SC, it would be nice to see our home team Panthers get back into, and finally win a Super Bowl for our Carolinas. Count me as a Panthers fan.”

Even though football was the main event of the night, Jeff found other aspects of the Super Bowl entertaining. “It was fun seeing Bill Murray in Jeep’s reprisal of ‘Groundhog Day’ and, though not a commercial, a special call out is needed for the beautiful rendition of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ragged Old Flag’ just prior to kick off,” he wrote. “My eyes are still misty.”
