PSHS volleyball teams serve up strong first season!
The Philip Simmons High School girls’ varsity and JV volleyball teams finished up their inaugural season last week with a Teacher Appreciation Night before their last home games. Each player was given an opportunity to invite a special teacher, past or present, to join her on the court before the game. The Iron Horses varsity squad, coached by Jay Watterworth, went 10-11 in the regular season and 8-4 in the region. They ended up in third place in the region and also hosted the first playoff match in PSHS history! Three girls made the all-region team: Claudia Rose Perkis, Julia Wood and Maya Gerding. “The growth our team showed this season was unparalleled,” said Coach Watterworth. “I could not have asked for a better first season and can't wait to see what the future has in store for our program.” The JV team was coached by Mallory Bendig and Kate Sablotsky.
