891 and 895 Island Park Drives: Look Who’s Here

DI storefronts feature smash burgers, hair specialists

Side by side in the heart of Daniel Island’s commercial district, 891 and 895 Island Park drives have been part of the landscape since the island’s early days of development. Built in 2002 and 2001, respectively, the neighboring buildings bring together a mix of service-based businesses.

Heavy’s Barburger keeps things casual with smash burgers hot off the flat top, cold drinks, good music, and a neighborhood bar feel. Behind the burgers and fun, the team aims to be a reliable local hangout where regulars are known by name and employees enjoy coming to work.

“Daniel Island has really shown up for us,” said co-owner Brenda Haire. “We love seeing familiar faces, getting to know families, and becoming part of people’s routines. There’ssomething pretty special about walking through the restaurant and knowing half the room.”

Heavy's opened in December 2024 taking over the home of longtime island staple Laura Alberts Tasteful Options.

Method Medical Center has served the Charleston area for more than 12 years, bringing several areas of care under one roof, from medical wellness and chiropractic care to peptide therapy, regenerative medicine, aesthetics, and other treatment options. The practice is led by Dr. Troy Barron alongside providers like physician assistant Katie Nickerson.

“The relationships we build are what make our practice truly special,” Barron said. “Over the years, many patients have become dear friends, and we’ve had the unique privilege of caring for entire families through every stage of life. We love being part of Daniel Island.”

Haven Hair Salon mixes beauty services with a laid-back, neighborhood feel, offering everything from cuts, color, blowouts, and highlights to keratin treatments, extensions, tinsel, and spray tans. Owner Brynn Olender, a hair extension specialist with more than 20 years of experience in beauty and fitness, built the Island Park Drive salon around “hospitality, personal connection, and helping clients leave feeling like the best version of themselves.”

Shelter Custom-Built Living takes custom homes from an empty lot and a set of ideas through design, material selections, and construction, with its builders, artisans, and designers working together in-house. The locally owned company has built homes throughout the Lowcountry, earning multiple PRISM Awards along the way, and its work has appeared in publications including Architectural Digest, Charleston Magazine, and Charleston Home + Design.

Foster Law Firm represents clients facing personal injury and disability claims, including cases involving vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, slip-and-falls, defective products, and nursing home abuse. The firm also handles short- and long-term disability benefits, helping clients navigate claims involving medical expenses, lost wages, and ongoing care.

Edward Jones financial advisor Hannah Richardson works with individuals and families on financial goals ranging from investing and retirement planning to college savings and preparing for the unexpected. Her approach starts with understanding each client’s goals and comfort with risk before developing and monitoring a personalized financial strategy.

“It’s important to invest my time to understand what you’re working toward before you invest your money,” Richardson said. “We can work together to develop specific strategies to help you achieve your goals.”
