DI Rotary welcomes new faces in February
The Rotary Club of Daniel Island welcomed new faces as more members joined in February. Likewise, many familiar faces made an appearance to reintroduce themselves.
The first meeting of the month on Feb. 2 began with guest speaker Peter Harper, principal of the commercial real estate group Lee & Associates. Harper is a board member of the Daniel Island Business Association, a member of the Daniel Island Community Fund Grant Committee, and a member of Christ Our King Church in Mount Pleasant.
Harper moved to Daniel Island in 2002 with his young children and wife. He noted that he has seen incredible growth on Daniel Island in the last 20 years. Harper touched on how stable the occupancy is with Daniel Island commercial real estate, future growth, and how Daniel Island ranks statistically with regional and national markets.
At the meeting, the club introduced new members Colleen McGregor, Ann Moravick, Amanda Wagner, and John Shultz.
The club did not hold a meeting Feb. 9; however, it did partner with the Daniel Island Business Association and threw an oyster roast at the Daniel Island Club.
On Feb. 16, there was no guest speaker, though, a special group was honored for their accomplishments. George Jucha, Grey Ives, Kathy Burgeson, Rich Kypta, and Mike Sudzina were recognized as Paul Harris Society fellows for their gifts of at least $1,000 in one year to the foundation.
At the final meeting of the month, the guest speaker was Lisa Metheney, the senior civilian for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Charleston branch.
Last, but most certainly not least, LaDonna James was named Rotarian of the Month.
