Delcioppo named Berkeley Co. Board of Voter Registration and Elections

Daniel Island resident Marie Delcioppo has added another title to her list of public service posts.

Delcioppo was appointed on May 7 to the Berkeley County Board of Voter Registration and Elections (BVRE) by Governor Henry McMaster after receiving a recommendation from the Berkeley County Legislative Delegation.

Delcioppo is also a commissioner representing District 1 on the City of Charleston Neighborhood Council, coordinator of the National Eating Disorders Association’s Charleston Walk, and president of the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association.

Among the directives of the Berkeley County BVRE are to educate and provide input to citizens on the election process, to provide awareness as it relates the function of the board, to serve as a basis for recruitment of poll workers for county elections, and to discuss and recommend improvements. Delcioppo’s term will expire on March 15, 2019.

“She is eager to begin working with us,” said Berkeley County Director of Elections and Voting Registration Adam Hammons. “And I look forward to adding another member to our board to give us a full nine member board again.”

“I think I am still in shock!” said Delcioppo, when asked to comment on her appointment. “I knew I was considered, so prepared myself for this outcome, but it still hasn’t sunk in. This is truly a privilege. Our voting process is the cornerstone of our democracy and to think I am a part of ensuring that process is upheld and honored for our citizens of Berkeley County is beyond words. I am humbled and cannot wait to serve in this incredible capacity.”
