TEN YEARS AGO - YOUTH BASKETBALL PREMIERS AT DIS
In the February 1, 2007 edition of the paper we featured the growing recreational basketball program on the island. Ten years ago there were about 80 island youth ranging in age from 5-12 competing in the City of Charleston Recreation basketball leagues. The city recreation league teams played at the Daniel Island School gymnasium on Satur¬day mornings and practiced weekdays under a joint agreement between the City and the Berkeley County School District.
FIVE YEARS AGO - NEW SIGN ALERTS I-526 MOTORISTS OF DI EVENTS
In the February 2, 2012 edition of the paper we reported that the POA was promoting some initiatives to showcase the island’s business community, particularly to off-islanders, and that they debuted a sign visible from I-526 at exit 24 (the sign has since been removed).
In business news, we featured WIN, the Women’s Island Network, which by 2012 was already eight years-old and served (and continues to serve today) as a way for island business women to support one another in the promotion of their businesses.
