Monday, February 6, 1:30 to 3 p.m. – Nic Butler presents “From Charleston Slavery to African Freedom: Two Amazing True Stories.”
CULTURAL LITERACY
Wednesdays, January 4 – May 4, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Join Hillyer Rudisill for a weekly lecture and discussion on varied topics that make up cultural literacy. Participants can attend at any time since each session stands on its own.
WHAT IN THE WORLD?
Thursdays, January 12 – February 23, 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Dr. Lester Pittman will lead a weekly discussion on world history and current events based on the book and video series, Civilization: The West and the Rest by historian Niall Ferguson.

Every first Monday starting February 6, from 4 - 6 p.m. Trained and Certified Clemson Extension Tri-County Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand answer questions about lawns, trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, vegetables and all aspects of gardening in the Lowcountry.
NEW! POETRY READING with MARCUS AMAKER
Tuesday, February 7, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Join us for a poetry reading lead by Marcus Amaker, Charleston’s first poet laureate, of his own works. He is the author of seven books of poetry and has contributed poems to a variety of volumes. In addition to poetry, Amaker is an award-winning graphic designer, web designer, videographer and musician.

Wednesday, February 8, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Come and meet some real “live” birds of prey that call the Lowcountry home. Learn about the birds, their prey and an introduction to raptor rehabilitation.

Thursday, February 23, 1 - 2 p.m. Join local artist Bernadette Cali for a digital viewing of her artwork and storytelling about the Gullah people of Wadmalaw Island in celebration of Black History month. Her works of art and stories tell of a culture long undisturbed, but will soon vanish in the midst of progress. Also, there will be a small sampling of some Gullah treats.
NEW! COOKBOOK CLUB
Every fourth Thursday. February 26, 2 - 3 p.m. Do you love cookbooks? We will discover delicious family friendly meals from around the world such as Greece, Japan, Lebanon, Peru, and Poland. Each recipe should be easy to prepare, child-friendly and consist of ingredients found in the grocery store.

RECORDER CLASS
Tuesdays, 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. For beginning or “rusty” adults and teens who want to learn to play in a group setting. Prior recorder or other musical experience not required.
PAWS FOR READING
Saturdays, 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. This program is designed to help children who are struggling with their reading skills. It encourages children to read by providing a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to. Session is 20 minutes, by appointment only.
DI NEEDLEWORKERS
Alternate Tuesdays, February 14 and 28, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. From experts to beginners, join in the fun on alternate Tuesday mornings. Bring your quilt, applique, embroidery, or any portable needle project and stay for a while to sew, make new friends and chat.
ZEN COLORING
Thursdays, 1 - 3 p.m. Relax, color away your problems and feel the positive energy flow as you create your own masterpiece. All supplies provided.
WRITERS’ GROUP
