Huger/Wando Men's Coalition Annual Communtiy Christmas Gala
Members of the Huger/Wando Men’s Coalition and their guests gathered on Dec. 1 at Cainhoy Elementary School for one of their favorite events of the year – their annual Community Christmas Gala.
The group’s mission is to reach the needs of their community and enhance growth and stability with education and spirituality. The multipurpose room at CES was transformed into a beautiful ballroom for the gala.
“The decorations, dinner and dancing were amazing,” stated attendee Kathy Mack-Watson. “We enjoyed taking Christmas pictures with family and friends. There were a lot of door prizes given away throughout the night.”
Longtime Cainhoy community member LaWanda Glears, principal at Cainhoy Elementary, also took part in the festivities.
“We are blessed to have Mrs. LaWanda Glears, who is a product of our community, as our principal at Cainhoy Elementary School!” added Mack-Watson, who thanked Glears for allowing the event to take place at the school. “…We are very proud of her and support her endeavors.”
Some of the initiatives supported by the Wando/Huger Men’s Coalition over the past seven years include the Cainhoy-Huger-Wando Summer Enrichment Program, the Huger-Wando Community Scholarship, Hearts of Huger, Baldwin Carson Community Outreach Center, Annual Community Back to School Picnic, Trident United Way’s Day of Caring, and student reading programs at Cainhoy Elementary School.
