Teal Pumpkin Project raises awareness of food allergies and promotes safe Halloween for all

The FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project™ is a wonderful campaign that I support and I hope you will too! The Teal Pumpkin Project™ raises awareness of food allergies and promotes a safer, happier Halloween by encouraging households to make non-food treats available so that trick-or-treaters who need to avoid candy – due to food allergies or other reasons – can fully participate. Households can show they are participating by placing a teal pumpkin in front of their home. There are many, many children (and adults) who are unable to enjoy Halloween candy due to a variety of illnesses or conditions...or simple healthy diet concerns! These include food allergies and Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, Celiac Disease, Crohn’s and Colitis, etc.
Last year, households from 50 states and 7 countries participated in the Teal Pumpkin Project™. This year, you can be part of an even bigger movement! Visit tealpumpkinproject.org to join 100,000 households pledging to participate.
Daniel Island joined this initiative last year thanks to local mom Cathy Leeke and very quickly families got involved. This year we have several volunteers broadening our awareness initiative...in schools, newspapers, Lowcountry Live segments, social media, etc. Free teal paint is available (as long as supplies last!) at tables located outside the DI Publix shopping center on the weekends before Halloween, at our TPP Table at the Pumpkin Walk, or by contacting valarydreyer@bellsouth.net. For the families in search of TPP Households, the link above includes a google map with homes in your neighborhood that will participate.
If you are interested, JOIN US and display a teal pumpkin to indicate you support the Teal Pumpkin Project with non-food treats...for whatever reason!!
