NEW PAWS FOR READING

Meet and Greet, Saturday, May 14, 12:30 – 1 p.m. Come and meet “Bailey”, a certified therapy dog, and his handler Miss Pam. They will be here to introduce and discuss the “Paws for Reading” program at the library this summer starting in June. This program is designed to help children who are struggling with their reading skills by reading to a certified therapy dog. It encourages children to read by providing a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to.

NEW RECORDER SHOW & TELL

Tuesday, May 17, 3 – 4 p.m. Did you know that recorders come in varying sizes from 9.5 inches up to 37 inches? Even if you do not plan to learn or relearn how to play the recorder attending this “show and tell class” will introduce you to an era and type of music known by few people, even musicians. Starting in June Prof. Hillyer Rudisill III will be teaching a recorder class. For beginning or “rusty” adults and teens who want to learn to play in a group setting. Prior recorder or other musical experience not required. Reading music is also not a prerequisite. You should be able to play several pieces within a few weeks.
