District 1 needs David Winkler
Charleston City Council District 1, which represents Daniel Island, needs an experienced leader who is able to help the City of Charleston manage the tremendous growth that we are seeing right now, and to do so in a fiscally responsible manner. David Winkler is that leader. A Daniel Island resident, with over 40 years of experience as a CPA, David brings the kind of vision that the City of Charleston needs now. With the growth that is expected to continue in the foreseeable future, David has the skills to implement plans that are pragmatic, dynamic and focused on keeping our community and quality of life vibrant.
As a CPA, David knows how to manage money and his business background will be invaluable to our community. His financial experience will help inform and shape the decisions that are made for the City of Charleston, protecting the $253 million in taxpayer money that currently makes up the city budget.
David Winkler is a strong supporter of our first responders and is concerned about the staffing shortages that we are seeing in public safety to ensure that the community remains enjoyable for everyone.
These are the reasons why Charleston City Council District 1 needs David Winkler.

Jen Gibson has the heart of a servant
I’m writing to encourage voters to participate in the special election for Charleston City Council District 1 representative on Jan. 11. Jen Gibson is running for this seat and I know she will do an excellent job in representing the interests of Daniel Island, Wando and Ansonborough. Jen has the heart of a public servant and she will tackle the issues that affect our quality of life like overdevelopment, flooding, preserving our natural environment, traffic and supporting local business. She is a long-time Charleston resident who is
invested in preserving our community. Every vote counts in this special election. Please take a few minutes to vote for Jen on Jan. 11.
Beth Bast, Daniel Island
