The autumn equinox marks the official end of summer. Unofficially, it’s when the kids head back to school or when the balmy beach weather turns into a chill, fall air.
This year, the calendar on our iPhone and the one hanging up on the wall at our work desk tells us the last day to catch those sunny rays is Sept. 22. But there’s no expiration date for reminiscing.
As the summer heat simmers, let’s look back on those sentimental memories of your fun in the sun. What trip did you take this summer that has you stuck in a state of nostalgia?
That’s a no brainer for me because the recent memory is still burning in the back of my mind.
Our annual friends’ trip to Bear Lake Reserve in Tuckasegee, North Carolina, is every August. It’s the ideal escape from reality into the highlands of the Blue Ridge Mountains where cell reception is poor and being unplugged from society is optimal.
For the Sept. 22 edition, The Daniel Island News is asking readers to submit their travel photos from family vacations, special events, spontaneous getaways and living life in the spur of the moment.
Please select one photo with a maximum caption of 50 words. The deadline to send responses is noon on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Please send all entries to zach@thedanielislandnews.com.
