Publix expansion clears more city hurdles, awaiting more approvals

Last week, the Publix expansion and demolition plans went before the City of Charleston Technical Review Committee and received a No Return/Paperwork Submittal result.

 

Eric Shultz, principal planner for the City of Charleston, explained that No Return means, “that the applicant will resubmit the responses to staff comments (typically viewed as minor) and documents via the TRC Coordinator to be uploaded to the plan case in order for the staff to review without being placed on a TRC agenda.” 

 

Schultz continued via email, “If the TRC review workflow is complete, the applicant will submit the plans to be stamped TRC Approved and arrange for a PreCon (preconstruction) meeting with the city.

 

Upon acceptance of the PreCon minutes and the initial inspections (site) being passed, a building permit will be released for construction.”

 

The Publix expansion received Design Review Board approval in January 2024.

 

This week, no developments are before the various City of Charleston boards and committees. Below are those items, as well as results, if any, from the prior week’s items specific to Daniel Island and the Cainhoy area.
