Brody lures Capt. Greg into a fishy bet

A tale of fishing, flounder, and stock tips
The other day, the Daniel Island Fishing Club hosted its annual fish fry at Pierce Park Pavilion.

The event was well attended by members and guests. The food was plentiful and delicious. Kudos to club member Jim Lemke for frying the flounder filets so perfectly!

I brought a doggie bag home for Brody (the amazing fish-finding and stock-trading dog). Now he is also a fan of Jim’s fried flounder.

A few days later, my son (Elliott), Brody and I were fishing inshore. The trout bite was steady. Most of the fish were small. Perhaps one out of 10 trout were keeper-size.

Whenever we let a keeper go, Brody would look at me funny. After a while, I realized Brody wanted to keep a few for a fish fry.  I explained that Elliott and I could not fry fish like Jim Lemke. However, Brody insisted that we keep a couple and try.

Funny, after we made the decision to keep a few trout, we could not catch any keepers. All the trout we caught were too small. Brody suspected some type of trout catching (or not catching) conspiracy theory.

For leverage, Brody told Elliott and me that he would only share his next stock trade recommendation if he got some fried fish. This got our attention.

Unfortunately, the tide had just about gone slack, and the trout bite had slowed down. I asked Brody if fried redfish would do. He agreed.

So, we made a quick move to a shallow area laden with oyster bars. Rather than blind cast, we idled adjacent to the shallows and looked for jumping shrimp. This is often the indicator of a school of redfish feeding.

A minute or two later, Elliott saw some shrimp jump and cast his Z-Man Finesse TRD lure into the area. Boom! Redfish on.

As Elliott fought the fish, Brody’s mouth was watering. When the fish came to the boat, it was over the slot-limit, and we let it go. Brody was beside himself.

I wanted the stock tip. So, we kept on fishing. Eventually, we landed a keeper-size redfish. Elliott, Brody and I were ecstatic.

Back at the dock, we enjoyed a snack of fried fish. Brody said it was not as good as Jim’s but good enough for a stock tip.

Brody says with the recent drop in the interest rate, Bitcoin will pop. He recommends buying a stock that is correlated to Bitcoin. I picked up a little MicroStrategy. If the trade turns out, I will donate the earnings to Jim’s favorite charity.
