A few weeks ago the Daniel Island Business Association (DIBA) held its first Block Party in over 18 months, and boy, did it feel good to be back! It felt amazing to see smiling faces of residents and business owners and employees connecting after such a long break.
A huge thank you to the Daniel Island Real Estate team for hosting such an amazing outside event and ending our hiatus with a bang. This last year and a half has felt stifling in so many ways, and for businesses, well, we all know the hardships many have faced, and are still facing.
Networking is a way to help pull us out of this pandemic, and help each other get back to “normal,” whatever that might look like going forward. Whether for the social aspect, or the ability to connect with like-minded people or businesses that can collaborate, it is an important part of a successful business. We all know that we can’t do it all on our own, supporting one another is always the better route, and there is so much our community can gain by being good neighbors and intentional supporters of our local businesses.
DIBA was started 17 years ago to create community among the businesses on Daniel Island and the surrounding Charleston area. That continues to be our mission going into 2022 and beyond. You can rely on us to have our monthly Block Parties the fourth Thursday of each month, with a member-only event to be scheduled in the next couple of months. (Use our social media pages and website for details and to RSVP). DIBA will also continue to co-sponsor the Daniel Island Speaker Series and help our island service organizations whenever and wherever we can.
I am proud to announce that we have updated our website (danielislandbusiness.com), making it more user friendly for members and residents. So please check it out and please join if you are a business owner. As a resident, I encourage you to make a habit of reviewing our amazing businesses that can use your support, because shopping locally is a very powerful thing to do! Our DIBA motto has always been to “Live, Work, Play,” so help us continue to demonstrate all three!
On behalf of the board, I want to emphasize how grateful we are to live in such a wonderful community and look forward to a successful fourth quarter and a productive and active start to 2022. We invite you all to join the journey with us.
Jenny Ladd is the president of Daniel Island Business Association and area director of Daniel Island Magazine.
