DI News celebrates high school graduates

It’s that time of year when communities across the globe celebrate high school graduates.

 

High school ceremonies and traditions vary around the world. In Scandinavia, graduates wear matching sailor hats and sing songs with their classmates. In Japan, graduates wear traditional clothing or school uniforms and receive a diploma from their teacher. In Mexico, like in the United States, graduates wear a cap and gown and receive a diploma from a school administrator. Argentina may have the most unusual graduation ceremony tradition: guests pelt graduates with food, including ketchup, dressing, and syrup.

 

At The Daniel Island News, we have a tradition of celebrating our high school graduates by publishing their senior photos and by highlighting their accomplishments. 

 

We are very fortunate to be able to work directly with the official photographer who took the senior photos at Bishop England and Philip Simmons high schools. Tumbleston Photography Studios already provided us with photos of students from those schools who did have their portraits done with them. 

 

In order to include island graduates who attend other private or charter schools, we need help from the schools and parents. If your child is graduating from high school this spring and did not attend BE or PSHS or who attended those schools but did not use Tumbleston, please send us photos so we can recognize as many students as possible.

 

This year we will publish our special graduation edition on June 1, 2023. The deadline to submit senior photos is Thursday, May 25. Please send color photos, together with the student’s name and high school to sdetar@thedanielislandnews.com. You can use the QR code included with this article to send your photos directly to us via my email.
