In 2023, The Daniel Island News will be celebrating its 20th anniversary of delivering the news to the community! Our motto has always been, “Promoting the Power of Community.”
Thanks to our strong advertiser and reader support, we’ve been able to work week by week toward that mission. And, thanks to that same support, we are growing and constantly looking for innovative approaches to news content, delivery and community engagement.
This week we celebrate National Newspaper Week (Oct. 2-7) and are reminded of the relevance of our work, the impact of it on our readers, and the responsibility we have to our community.
Over the past few years, we have added to our award-winning print product by also producing a variety of e-newsletters, offering stories online, creating fun contests, communicating through social media and putting on community events.
We want to hear from community members about ways to improve, adapt and better fulfill our purpose of serving the community. We want to partner with people with diverse life and work skills: business development, marketing know-how, operations aptitude, publishing knowledge, graphic design and video production skills, social media expertise, news reporting abilities, writing talent, sales experience, event organizing.
At The Daniel Island News, we know our most important asset is our people: the people who work at the paper, the people who advertise in the paper and the people who read the paper. We are open to new ideas, creating new positions and developing original news and marketing products.
Specifically, we are looking to hire people to assist with marketing, sales, event planning and developing new innovative ideas. We are also looking for writers/storytellers who can communicate through a variety of mediums.
And, as always, we want to hear from our readers: please send story ideas, accomplishments and community items and suggestions for improvements.
If you’re interested in contributing to promoting the power of community, reach out to me with your ideas – I want to hear from you. You can reach me at 843-345-1563 or at sdetar@thedanielislandnewscom.
