As January rolled in, so did unusually frigid temperatures across the Lowcountry and other Southern states that are more accustomed to mild winters.
With lower temperatures come higher heating bills and possible family feuds over the thermostat.
So, what temperature do you keep your thermostat during the winter?
Comments: Share with us the steps you’ve taken to stay warm during the winter weather?

• Heavier bed blankets, gas fireplace, vent fans to better disperse heat throughout the house.
• We wear comfortable, warm clothing even while inside.
• Use our gas fireplace in the evening, and wear my hooded L.L. Bean winter jacket when taking walks.
• Dress warmly, use the gas fireplace, and electric blankets if very cold.
• Nice fluffy duvet on my bed and a throw pillow on the sofa.
• Use fireplace.
• We have four fireplaces in our home. I turn them on for about 15-20 minutes to take the chill off.
• Hot cocoa and cuddling.
• More clothes and less time outside.
• Nothing different other than wearing warm clothes.
• Blankets
• Add more blankets so being on the couch or sleeping is more comfortable without having to turn up the heat! Having pets, it’s not realistic to turn down the heat too much during the day when I’m at work because I don’t want them to be cold!
• Wear extra clothing.
• Layers
• I wear sweatpants and sweatshirts with slippers until April. I also always have my heated seats and heated steering wheel on in my car.
• Use fireplace.
Next week’s poll: Celebrating snow days
Daniel Island, Cainhoy Peninsula, and much of the Charleston area are looking at possible snow this week.
While infrequent, the area has gotten significant accumulation of the white stuff in the past. Remember “Snowmaggedon?” With the snow can come the elusive snow day.
So how does your family take advantage of these rare days off? Tell us at surveymonkey.com/r/SnowDay25 or use the QR code by Sunday, Jan. 26, at 5 p.m.
