Fourth of July celebrations and other community traditions

The Lowcountry offers several wonderful ways to celebrate the Fourth of July. One of those is the annual Daniel Island Independence Day Celebration, which includes the golf cart parade and concert at Smythe Park. This year’s events will be held on Sunday, July 2. You can check out the full schedule and happenings on page 16-17.

And, while the island event will not include a fireworks display, the City of Charleston and surrounding communities offer fireworks displays:

July 4 – At Joseph P. Riley Park following the RiverDog’s game.

July 4 – At Patriot’s Point at full sunset, around 9:20 p.m.

July 4 – At Sullivan’s Island at 9 p.m.

July 4 – At Isle of Palms Front Beach at 9 p.m.

July 4 – At Riverfront Park, North Charleston at 9 p.m.

Setting off fireworks in the City of Charleston is prohibited.
