• There is so much development going on it’s difficult to keep up with it all. I think the bigger issue is that residents don’t feel like our voice is being heard or matters to city planners/developers. Quality of life is being compromised by development because infrastructure required to support the new development isn’t being considered.

• I would like to learn more about the trucking development at Beresford Run and Clements Ferry Road. The county has allowed a concrete factory (after telling residents one would not be built) and the adjacent homeowners had to fight very publicly to prevent a Flying J truck stop in 2018. The county does not respond to emails asking about its future or if any development is taking place in the coming months.

• Don’t like development, buy the land and put it in conservation. If you own it you have the rights to do whatever is within the zoning standards for that land.

• Charleston is growing too much and this is not good!

• I seem to find out about projects after they’re halfway through the approval process.

• I would like public meetings, but I have participated in these in the past and it is clear to me that the public has no power. The developers have already made a deal with our politicians.

• The overdevelopment of Cainhoy Plantation that is threatening wildlife and quality of life. The planned infrastructure cannot support the level of development planned.

• The area behind the Daniel Island Auto Sales building. Supposedly it’s becoming a boat sales business on a private road that can not handle it!!!

• All of them and particularly how it is planned to ensure infrastructure can handle the growth (roads maintenance/expansion, etc.)

• Infrastructure planning for Clements Ferry corridor.

• …Way too much multifamily housing on CF. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY IN AND OUT BETWEEN 526 and 41!!!!!!!! Shame on whoever is allowing it!!!!!!! Greed!!!!!!!

• Impact on the infrastructure of Clements Ferry Road that no one seems concerned about.

• The clearing off of Clements Ferry near Gildan.

• Clements Ferry Road: What new businesses are coming in; are they going to build a sidewalk/golf cart/ bicycle road along the entire road that would connect Clements Ferry and DI?

• Everything - planned restaurant, businesses, subdivisions/apartments, road updates.

• Point Hope and any development along Clements Ferry Road.

• I would like to know when residential developments are being planned and how our local schools will be impacted by these developments.

• Any commercial or residential (especially multifamily/apartment) projects. They greatly affect the amount of vehicular traffic on CFR.

• Residential and commercial developments along Clements Ferry Road and road safety concerns with speeding vehicles not adhering to speed limits.

• I’d like to learn more about the plans to build infrastructure necessary to support the planned developments.

• Commercial/Residential Development along Clements Ferry. Traffic congestion planning.

• I feel like only a select few understand what is happening. They keep the majority of the public in the dark to avoid delays and get things pushed through. I get it from their personal and business perspective. However it’s a failure of our government leaders to protect the greater community…

• Everything on DI. The DI Company keeps its plans too close to the vest, hoping that by the time people complain the project will already be too far along to stop.

• Everything! Don’t even know what they are called! All the high density apartments are destroying the quality of life with no thought to the infrastructure.

• All roads residential and commercial.

• Expansion of Clements Ferry, new business developments, traffic light installation at major crossroads.

• I’d like to see a list of what is already approved.

• The apartments being built on the corner of DI Drive and Fairchild (across the street).

• Bridge access to Clements Ferry. At least monthly updates as it will cause significant traffic and potentially safety issues. Keep all teams, private and public, accountable.

• None, this is a great thing that is going on. More people need to come to the area and maybe the state won’t be last in everything. The people that can’t deal with it just need to leave and let the people that wanna live here stay…

• The Lowcountry is becoming another overdeveloped irreversible mistake which many of us fled from.

• All things that affect daily travel - DI, Clements Ferry and 526 developments.

• The new apartments at Fairchild and Daniel Island Drive. We live in Codners Ferry neighborhood and heard nothing about them. Not happy.

• The mixed use development just outside DI proper (former Charleston Battery site et al) and its impact on traffic flow to and from from DI and possible impact on traffic congestion and store use on DI proper.

• Development along Clements Ferry Road between I-526 and US 41.

• I would like more of a warning on when a new project will be starting but it’s not too bad as it is.

Next Reader Survey: Weather dangers

South Carolinians are well versed in hurricane season dangers and most are well prepared for what might hit our coastline. But other weather-related dangers are becoming more prevalent, more frequent and more destructive. Thunder and lightning storms, extreme heat, tornadoes and more are becoming fairly common, much like the July 5 storm that just impacted Daniel Island and the surrounding area. How prepared are you for these other types of severe weather occurrences? Share your thoughts at surveymonkey.com/r/SevereWeather2023 by Sunday, July 16, at 5 p.m. And be sure to tell us about what concerns you most.
