Tell us: Is your wallet ready for the rising cost of summer energy?
Many Lowcountry residents are just starting to recover from increased heating bills caused by a colder than usual winter. But the spring break is short, because climbing temperatures near 90 have already been experienced. And it’s just the beginning.
In a recent Daniel Island News story, (bit.ly/4dT8tjx) the National Energy Assistance Directors Association reported that in the South Atlantic region, which includes South Carolina, households are projected to spend around $860 this summer, up from $757 last year – a jump of more than $100. That’s roughly a 13.5% increase, outpacing much of the rest of the country. By comparison, Midwestern households are expected to see summer costs rise by only about $30.
