The other day, Brody, the amazing fish-finding and stock-trading dog, my son Elliott, and I were returning from an offshore fishing trip. Being courteous boaters, we slowed the boat to no wake speed as we passed near a couple of docks.
There was a family on one of the docks that waved and said thank you for slowing down. We waved back. One of the children yelled, “Where is Brody?” Hearing his name, Brody promptly woke up from his nap and jumped onto the forward coffin box.
The children excitedly said hello to Brody. Elliott and I laughed about Brody having a fan club. One of them asked, “Where is a good place to fish?” Brody barked, “Smythe Park Lake during The Danziger Cup Kids Fishing Tournament.”
Brody was correct. On Saturday, June 15, the 13th Annual Danziger Cup Kids Fishing Tournament will be held at Smythe Park Lake. Tournament hours are from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Awards will be given for the first-, second-, and third-longest fish for largemouth bass, panfish, and mullet caught in each age category. Plus, an award for the longest mystery fish caught in any age category and for any tagged fish caught.
The Grand Champion Award is for the longest eligible fish species overall, regardless of age category. The Grand Champion will win a half-day fishing trip with me.
Brody says fishing should be a family affair. So, this year the Grand Champion will have the option of two anglers fishing for trout, flounder, and redfish in my skiff or four anglers fishing for bull redfish and sharks in my Yellowfin 32.

Remember, the best catch in fishing is time with your family. See you on June 15. Perhaps Brody will make an appearance if I can get approval from his agent.
