Thankfully, the Lowcountry has returned to more “normal” winter weather. In warmer conditions, fishing is easier (and more comfortable). Right now, the inshore bite is very good. Redfish and trout are hungry and in large schools. In a few hours of fishing, it is not unusual to catch and release 20 to 30 fish. However, I expect we will have a few more cold spells before spring gets here and fishing will once again become more challenging. When fishing is tough, finesse fishing techniques will catch fish when nothing else is working. If you are struggling to catch fish in cold weather conditions, perhaps I can help.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m., I will be speaking at the monthly meeting of the Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club. My topic will be how to locate and catch fish in cold weather conditions. The meeting is being held at Providence Church on Daniel Island. Visitors and guests are welcome. Email danielislandfishingclub@gmail.com to learn more.
On Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m., I will be hosting a seminar at Haddrell’s Point Fishing Expo at the Omar Shrine in Mount Pleasant. My topic will be how to fish ultra-light (finesse techniques). These techniques are highly effective. Especially in cold weather situations.
Contact Haddrell’s Point Tackle for more information.
In both events, I will be sharing how to consistently locate and catch fish using finesse techniques. While it sounds complicated, it is actually pretty simple. Anyone can do it! If you do attend, please introduce yourself. I enjoy meeting neighbors and making new friends.
