Youth soccer champs!

U12 Hurricanes (Cainhoy Athletic Club) The U-12 Cainhoy Hurricanes, sponsored by Wash Wizard, won the Ray Thompsett Invitation Soccer Tournament held in Rock Hill on March 18 and 19. A 6-0 victory over the Charlotte Soccer Academy Copa clenched the Hurricane’s spot in the finals. In the championship game, the Hurricanes defeated the Wake Futbol Club Real Madrid 3-1, with goals scored by Lang Ives, Emma Muller, and Ansley Douty. Exceptional defense by Mary Claire Smith, Grace Ward, and Merritt Zieminick, along with goal tending by Ashton Douty, resulted in only two goals against the Hurricanes over the course of the entire tournament. Most Valuable Player was awarded to Monic Green. Several teams with the Daniel Island Soccer Academy (DISA) came home victorious after big wins in a variety of recent tournaments. The U11 Freedom, U14 Boyz, U10 Liverpool, U9 Chelsea, U11 Bayern, U11 Ajax, U8 Sounders and U8 Timbers (finalists) earned top prizes in the Charleston Spring Shootout the weekend of March 17-18. Also posting a championship victory were the U12 Hurricanes of the Cainhoy Athletic Club, who won the Ray Thompsett Invitation Soccer Tournament in Rock Hill the same weekend.
