Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club donates fishing statue to the community

Statue is located on Seven Farms Drive at the pond near the tennis stadium

The Daniel Inshore Fishing Club officially donated a fishing statue to the Daniel Island Property Owners Association on Friday, August 19, at a ceremony held on Seven Farms Drive at the pond near the tennis stadium.

The club noted in a press release that “one of the many attractions of Daniel Island are the wonderful fishing waters that surround the Island as well as its interior fresh water ponds. These fishing waters offer the opportunity for families to fish together, making memories and forming bonds between children and adults that will continue for years. The Family Fishing Statue represents such a moment in the lives of a little girl and boy.”

Active fishing club member and chairman of the KIDS Fishing Tournament Fred Danziger presented the statue to POA Field Operations Manager Chris Hamil, thanking the POA for being very good to the club.

Echoing Danziger, founding member of the club Ron Silverman reminisced about fishing with his father in the Catskill Mountains and stressed that the statue is a reminder that “taking a child fishing is an expression love.”

The impressive heirloom-quality bronze, 360-degree, over-five-foot-long family statue is expertly finished with a hand-applied, classic sepia bronze patina accented by an antiqued emerald verde patina to bring out the amazing detail. Cast and crafted one piece at a time in the traditional lost wax method, which highlights the detail of the sculpture and guarantees lasting beauty, the statue measures 63”Wx20”Dx44”H and weighs 245 pounds, without the fishing poles.

There is also a plaque located near the pond and closer to the sidewalk that reads, “Presented by the Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club to our community. ‘Making Memories’ 2016.”
